Short history:
Initial idea to organize friendly match between schools was raised by teachers Nikos Rokopanos (GRE) and Jan Wiech (POL) in 2014, which has been continued in the following years in a larger cast and in the form of a team event.

6th School-Friendly Event
The Polish Correspondence Chess Commission of the Polish Chess Federation is organizing this tournament.
The event regulations were placed at the organizer website here. They were sent to all national delegates and placed also at the ICCF website.
The main purpose is to integrate school children within common passion chess.
This is the 6th edition of School-Friendly Event played on the ICCF server from 2019-10-20 to 2020-05-31 at 4 boards (teacher+3 students under 19).
The event is unrated. Time control – an incremental rate of play (initial time: 20 days per game plus increment: 1 move in 3 days with duplication after 20 days; 10 days leave per calendar year, no special leave). Unfinished games will be adjudicated.

IES Jándula, Andújar (Spain)
We are writing from a high school in Andújar (Spain), a city which is very close to Linares, where so many GM chess tournaments have been held, as we are also interested in implementing a talent program which includes chess with our own students. This course we can teach chess, in the high school, to students into the chess programme. As for the teachers who are behind the talent project in our high school, we are a multidisciplinary group which already includes English, Music, Economics and Computer Science teachers.

Karlovassi High School/Lyceum, Samos, are (junior/senior) high schools at the town of Karlovassi, located in the northwest of the island of Pythagoras. Karlovassi is the second largest city on the island of Samos.

Wilson School, Sutton, London (England)

The school was founded by Edward Wilson in 1615 and was located in Camberwell, now part of Greater London but at that time a small village of cottages, homesteads, inns and larger buildings grouped around a village green. Wilson was born around 1550 in Cartmel, Lancashire, which had its own grammar school, from where he passed on to Cambridge University. The school is a specialist college in Mathematics and Computing. This status was re-awarded in 2007 along with a second specialism in the Arts.

Liceum Ogólnokształcące nr 1, Brodnica (Poland)
The Philomats of Michałowska’s Land High School in Brodnica was founded in 1873. It is one of the oldest schools in Poland. It has a rich history and its contribution to the development of Polishness in the Prussian territories. The school now boasts many scientific and sporting achievements. The chess section has existed for 10 years and has reached the medal positions in team and individual competitions in the Brodnica district.

King’s College School, Wimbledon, London (England)

King’s College School is an independent day school for boys aged 7-18 and girls aged 16-18. Founded in 1829 by royal charter, it is a school of over 1400 pupils and is one of the most academically successful schools in the world.

The team are all 11 or 12 years old. King’s College Junior School is in Wimbledon (south-west London), an area famous for tennis and Wombles. The school has about 430 boys aged from 7-13, and almost everyone moves on to the senior school which shares the same campus. King’s College Junior School are the current English Chess Federation under 13 national champions, and the team contains three of the boys who won this title.
English team is led by Matthew Hortin, teacher and chess instructor.
The teacher, Matthew Hortin, is the Head of Classics (Latin and ancient Greek) at King’s College Junior School. He started a chess club when he joined the school 11 years ago, and has enjoyed watching boys develop a love of chess and beat him increasingly frequently.

The school is an institution where students start their education from the fourth grade of primary school with the possibility of continuing from high school to the final year of graduation class.
Didactic and educational classes are conducted by qualified staff of very good teachers. We have been operating as a sports school since 1974, which means increased hours of physical education. We specialize in artistic gymnastics and basketball, but you will also find athletes who train other disciplines.
The students of our school achieve very good results in school and external exams. Every year, we are at the forefront of schools in Gdynia and the whole of Pomerania. However, we are famous mainly for sporting achievements.
We also cooperate with sports clubs of our city – Asseco Arka Gdynia, Arka Gdynia, SGA Gdynia and UKS Jantar Gdynia. We have organized chess classes for students since the current school year. The first Bulgarian school in the town of Aytos which was founded in 1868 changed its name several times until it became Hristo Botev High School in 1926, 50 years after the death of Hristo Botev our Bulgarian national hero, revolutionary, poet, and publicist.
