Olga Sukhareva (RUS)

Olga Mikhailovna Sukhareva (born 15.03.1963 in Orenburg) is a Russian woman International Correspondence Chess Grandmaster. She is most famous being the 7th & 8th ICCF Women’s World Champion.

Her father taught her to play chess. Then she attended a chess study group. She participated in many individual and team events. The best result was winning a women championship of the Spartak.

Olga graduated from polytechnic institute. Being a student played the very first cc tournament. Then won several cc events for men, however suddenly stopped this activity because of dispute with a TD which arose after his wrong decision.

She has won an OTB women championship of Orenburg region for several times.

Olga says “Correspondence chess always attracted me for its research nature, an opportunity to analyze deeper and to fathom its mystery. I never liked to cut an opponent’s flag in OTB chess“.

Olga returned to cc in 1997. She sequentially won cc women championship of Russia (1997-99), the semifinal (1999-2002) and the Final (2002-06) of the 7th Ladies World Championship.
