This European national team tournament is the second edition of a team event for players with low ELO (with average rating not higher than 2000) began on 25.01.2012 with 22 teams divided in 3 preliminary groups (TD Mariusz Wojnar – POL). Play in all groups is very close to completion, there are only few running games (2, 4 and 6 respectively). Almost all qualifiers (8 of 9 teams) to the final are already known. The 9th team is Czech Republic since the last open decisive game. The final will start as soon as possible.
The final will start as soon as possible [most probably on 01.09.2013].

Adjudication Guidelines
After the end date of the preliminaries (2013-06-01) all unfinished games are called for adjudication.
Games will be stopped by TD manually on 2013-06-02.
Both players involved shall submit to TD (Mariusz Wojnar) no later than 2013-06-15 statement claiming either a win or a draw (using ICCF webserver facility – “Claim win” or “Claim draw” under “Game” pull down menu from game window). Players should submit analysis to support their claim. Analysis does not necessarily mean possible variations; it also includes general plans where appropriate. Players involved will be promptly notified of the adjudicator’s decision. The adjudicator’s decision is final, without appeal.
Some games might be restarted later, if they have no influence on the 1st and 2nd position and both players wish to continue play.
On behalf of ICCF, the ICCF Diamond Jubilee World Cup 18 (Webserver) is being organised and administered by the Polish CC Federation.
Preliminaries are coming to the end on 2013-06-01. The semi-finals will start on 2013-08-30 and the final is expected to start on 2015-08-30 at the latest. See announcement at the ICCF webserver and at the tournament website.
Participants of the ICCF Golden Jubilee Final tournament may wish to participate in the tournament organised on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of ICCF.
All participants of the “ICCF 50 Jubilee Email Final” and the first 13 players (out of 104) of the “ICCF 50 Jubilee Postal Final” are invited for the semi-final stage of the ICCF Diamond Jubilee World Cup 18 (Webserver).
The winners – Mr.Jergler, Csaba (HUN) and Mr.Dothan, Yoav (ISR) – are invited for the final stage. GM Yoav Dothan confirmed his participation in the final stage already.
Entries shall be submitted before 2013-06-20.
Best regards, Amici Sumus –
Mariusz Wojnar, TO World Cup 18
Witold Bielecki Memorial (Team Tournament) for teams (6 players each) with average rating not higher than 2000 (at the 2011/4 ICCF Rating List) organized by ICCF-Europa started on 2012-01-25. Tournament attracted 22 European national teams. They were distributed to 3 sections. The first three teams from each section will play in the final.
There is only one open decisive game and we know almost all teams qualified for the final.
Qualifiers are following:
- section 1 (Preliminary 1) – Belarus, Austria & Finland
- section 2 (Preliminary 2) – Russia & Slovakia. Two teams are fighting for the 3rd promotion – Denmark & Czech Republic – both having the same score. However, better chance to succeed has Czech Republic who has still one open game.
- section 3 (Preliminary 3) – Ukraine, Romania & Poland
Decision on the final will be announced soon.
Mariusz Wojnar, TD MT-Bielecki TT
Preliminaries of this World Cup started on 2011-10-30 with 844 players in 65 server sections and now it is coming to the end on 2013-06-01. We have 99% (!!!) completed games (range from 91% to 100%) – 33 sections out of 65 finished play. The first, second and third placed players from a preliminary section receive a certificate signed by Eric Ruch – ICCF President and Michael Millstone – General Secretary (in a form of pdf file). The winners will receive book prize in due time.
There is still 72 open games. This is reminder that after the end date of preliminaries (2013-06-01) all unfinished games are called for adjudication.
We know 110 qualified players (85%) for the World Cup 18 semi-finals until now! Most of them confirmed their participation already. See page “World Cup 18 semi-finals – Status of the entries”
Start of the World Cup 18 semi-finals is scheduled for 2013-08-30. See announcement here.

You may think that rating system has been introduced only 25 years ago and we cannot compare older strong tournaments or that we have inflation. Wrong!
Please go to the article “The ICCF Rating system” by Nol van ’t Riet (NED), updated by Gerhard Binder (GER) and me 🙂
Of course, who was the strongest player ever is of great interest to everybody. This article can give you some background.
