Problems
Except of few cases games run smoothly.
There is less and less problems with proper time management. How to avoid them see reminders below.
Withdrawal – silent:

Reminders
It is fair and good practice to finish game in good time.
Sometimes players hesitate to come to an agreement (to agree upon a draw or to resign). Silent resignation in lost position is not fair.
I understand very well players who have decisive advantage or game comes to 6-piece (or less) ending, but there is no legal background for claim in such situation (except of cases described by rules). It can be accepted only after end date of an event. In case of World Cup 18 preliminaries end date is 2013-06-01.
Be aware that Nalimov Endgame Tablebases (EGTB) for 6 pieces (or less) are accessible online for everybody.
Please be reminded that normally it is up to a player to exploit his time as he wishes and you cannot say anything wrong to your partner, even if he continues his game in obviously drawish/lost position or until mate.
Please see other basic reminders at separate subpage.
